Zines

All of the zines on this page are for sale or trade. E-mail me for more information!

Answering Service - This zine chronicles my answering machine messages from 2001, as recorded by a digital answering device. This is before the days of cell phones and voicemail, and all messages were transcribed word for word, giving insight into things that were happening or not happening when no one was home.

Business Travel: A Zine of Mystery, Intrigue, and Canards - A collection of interviews from a business trip. There is really not much mystery or intrigue in here, but there are definitely cab drivers, sub shop employees, airline folks, French ducks and pictures cut out of the cheesy airline shopping catalog.

If My Cat Ruled the World... - A Polaroid zine capturing the lives and ambitions of cats and their owners nationwide. Included in this issue are 10 cats from the Midwest! The world is already a better place with these cats in it, but if they were in power, it would be even better.
Interview with a Zombie - A mini-zine capturing one zombie's take on life, love, and the pursuit of brains.
Official Chicken Movie Coloring/Activity/Propaganda Zine - Originally assembled for a private viewing party of the film The Natural History of the Chicken, this zine has information and facts about chickens, a coloring page, and a word search!
Pop-Fed Girl No. 1, Ghosts - Just a few personal ghost stories from my younger days. Includes stories about ghost cats, strange dogs, mysterious automobiles, and a first hand account of the goings on at Cry Baby Bridge.
Sea Sponge Revolution - Originally a companion piece for a workshop about alternative menstrual products, this zine explains why commercial pads and tampons are bad news, walks you through some of the pros and cons of several alternative solutions, and gives some helpful info and advice about period pains. Includes a pull-out centerfold with a pattern to make your own cloth pad.
Unsolicited #1: The Needy and the Dreamless - This zine is hilarious. And I'm not just saying that because I wrote it, because I didn't write it at all. A reproduction of someone's random and unsolicited funding request. Future issues of Unsolicited will focus on other unsolicited requests for money, unsolicited e-mails, fax advertising, etc.

WHAT'S A ZINE?

Zines are handmade booklets about anything and everything. They come in all shapes and sizes and people write them about all sorts of topics. I think that the best thing about zines is that you can trade them with other people who make zines and build up a collection to read and share with friends.

ISN'T A ZINE JUST A PAPER BLOG?

No way! Zines are totally different, least of all because they are physical objects that exist and take up space IRL. You can't hold your blog together with tape and staples; and you can't hold your zine together with css and html.
